Name: Martha Country: United States State: Georgia Birthday: 3/23/1986 Gender: Female
Interests: Backpacking, sleeping under the stars, and completely not understanding why I bother to spend the majority of my time in civilization. Cooking and eating because that beats all (especially when you're in the wilderness and no where near stress). Roofing: it's one of the weird skills that I learned last year that I somehow enjoy.
Expertise: Hmmm... I think my area of expertise has to be my ability to get no sleep. I just don't know where all of the time goes during the day, so I end up working all night. I don't think it's something to brag about, but I've become awfully good at it.

| Long time, no? Princeton, college, freedom, independence... what else is there to say? Orientation week has almost been disorienting in its direct opposition to a normal week in college. There have been pointless discussions, I've been led around like I was about five, and parties occur every night without any thought to actually having to finish some work or wake up the next morning at any reasonable hour. But, as of tomorrow, this will all be over. My first class is 10:00 tomorrow morning and it is the only class of the day. I have a lab in the afternoon, but I don't think that it actually begins until next week when I've actually had a Physics class and seen a demonstration. My schedule this semester is amazingly full in comparison to many other people because math meets three times a week and I have physics every day with three days of class, one day of demonstration, and one day of lab. Other than that, I am currently signed up for an english class on satire and a religion class on buddhism (I got blocked out of the anthropology class I wanted to take). Stories from the past week will soon follow, but I just wanted a brief synopsis for my first entry after a rather long, lazy hiatus.

| Yeah, so we won our game 5-0 and had to do sprints after the game. What the hell?! Coach was just incredibly mad that we were not serious about the game because supposedly the starters were really loud on the bench after they came out, so we ended the game and did two half field sprints, one sprint from our end to the other teams eighteen, and one sprint full-field for time. I wasn't really mad about it, but I was initially very out of breath. After, though, I was somewhat hyper and Jim had to keep holding me still to stop me from jumping/skipping while we were walking. Then, I went home, and he lied on my kitchen floor while I made pumpkin bread. Other than that, the Chemistry Olympiad test which had caused me to lose sleep the previous night ended up being very shallow and easy in its covering of the material. I hope that I did well otherwise I'll feel quite stupid.

| So Saturday was the big soccer sleepover. Man, what a different world these people have. We spent the first part doing a normal scavenger hunt with things like "Take a picture of a man in an apron." My team won, not that it mattered or anything, but it was fun. After that, though, was when things got interesting. One of the three freshmen on our team was unable to come because she was grounded for piercing her nose, so the team piled into cars, and we all went over to visit. We were in her house for 15 minutes tops, and when we came out, we found that 3 of the 4 cars had been egged including Katie Conway's open Jeep which had egg on the seats and floor mats. So, we went back to Shea's house to clean the egg off, and while we were cleaning the cars, the house three doors down was being TPed. I didn't realize that stuff like this was so common for any weekend. Anyway, we watched a couple of movies, but when we began to go to bed around 3, a group attacked the freshmen and shaved one of each of their eyebrows. Whoa, anyway, it was an interesting night, but I can't say that I would appreciate being involved on a daily basis. Got to study for the Chem Olympiad test quickly so that I don't completely bomb it. Good luck everyone, but don't worry about it.

| I have been way too busy to update lately, but quick recap on the past week. Played in 2 soccer games for about 70 minutes total, scored a goal against Campbell, had an assist against Osborne, spent all of Saturday driving down and back from Columbus. Other than soccer, I'm finally finishing all of the proofs for yearbook (major procrastination on my part) and I'll be working Habitat for the next 3 weeks, so my Saturdays are basically set. Jim and Matt took off randomly today for Florida because it's their Spring Break, so I don't know what I'll do Friday. Maybe eat lunch downtown with my mother since she has been wanting me to come down for the past few months. After, eh? Guys soccer game (free entertainment), a movie, or perhaps just staying home and being lazy. Chem test tomorrow and I still need to do most of the homework, the bonus, and study. Game tomorrow but I played so poorly in practice today that I doubt I'll spend a minute of it on the field. 'Tis okay, though, because I have become a pro bench warmer. I won't draw this out more than need be, so that's it for the moment.
